How does it make you feel?

I do not feel like you –

I melt inward way down

And the heat it generates

Creates a blanket of sweat

All over my face and body

It slowly pools beneath me,

cleansing the toxins and

soaking through the mattress –

before dripping on the slanted wooden floor.

It seeps outside towards the horizon

out my cracked window and back into the earth

Another nighttime implosion

-a penance to nature

for this reckless dream emoting.

I often try to capture them.

Show up to the last day of school without my papers

Or work an endless puzzle shift

But instead go nowhere,

just trip up and

awake into consciousness

This forcefield

softy glowing and enigmatic

is not a vain mask –

it shields from a recessive condition

of external disconnection

that is regressing.

I do not feel like you do.

I melt inward,

way down.

How does it make you feel?
